The modern model for finding a partner is a seriously broken one.  Two people meet, then move in together.  Those who do this almost never marry.  It usually leads to difficulties, especially for the female.  If things do not go well, which they typically do not, she is left having to find a place to live and fully support herself.  A common subset of the model is the controlling relationship, usually the male.  He may go through the female's phone, search her handbag, forbid her from having contacts, particularly male contacts.  Bottom line this is a failed model.  It may lead to mental health issues and become an endless cycle of useless relationships.
